What is a greenhouse? A greenhouse is a structure that can be constructed of aluminum, vinyl or wood walls and are intended to maximize solar heat gain through the use of glass. Greenhouses primarily utilize a translucent roof usually consisting of glass or polycarbonate that allows the room to be heated by incoming solar radiation from the sun. Air warmed by the sun from is retained in the building by the roof, floor and walls. The term greenhouse is often times interchangeable with the terms sunroom and conservatory depending on the intended use of the room.

A true Greenhouse is typically used as a Garden Room to house plants or other types of vegetation. Greenhouses can range in size from a small room to a large freestanding structure.
